Our History
Learn more about DACPNow over twenty five years later, the Doli Atamian Campership Program (DACP) is still providing those camperships, although no longer limited to clients of the housing authority but to all income eligible families living in Acton and Boxborough.
The DACP has provided a unique opportunity for many of these children to have the same experiences as their peers. It also provides respite for many who live in small apartments with no access to recreational areas. For those in need of summer school, the benefits have enormous potential for educational success. In addition, the opportunity to raise funds for this program from the local community provides an important opportunity to educate the public.
Scholarships provided to Acton Boxborough children in the summer of 2021
To be eligible for the program family’s income must be within specific income guidelines that cannot exceed: $59,400 for a two-member family, $66,800 for a three-member family, $74,200 for a four-member family, $80,150 for a five-member family, $86,100 for a six-member family, and $92,050 for a seven-member family.
In support of the philosophy of its founder, Doli Atamian, the Board of Directors advocates for the betterment of the lives of local families. As in previous years the DACP looks forward to providing meaningful summer experiences to a greater number of children living in Acton and Boxborough.
No other agency in Acton/Boxborough area provides scholarships for summer experiences to the children of income eligible families. To receive a campership the income eligible family must submit a completed application along with financial documentation verifying their need.
Once the application is reviewed and approved the family is sent an eligible letter approving them for a scholarship up to $300 per child. The scholarships are paid directly by DACP to the summer camp or school of the family’s choice.
At the 2014 Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Graduation, the Doli Atamian Campership Program received the William Ryan Community Service Award in recognition of valuable contributions that have made an ongoing positive impact on the community, and particularly on its young people.
